Family Sessions- What to Expect

Welcome!
This is going to be my first blog so please, excuse how awful it is. I thought I would start by giving you an idea of what you can expect during a typical family session with me!
On location family sessions are meant to be casual while still capturing those posed shots. I like to take candid shots of family enjoying their time together and I have a bad habit of taking too many pictures! I've been known to say "just one more" a time or two...








A full family session will typically last at least an hour depending on weather and willingness of the subjects. I also have over 5 years experience in the early childhood education field and that definitely helps when it comes to the littles! Full Sessions will include more than one "setting", we'll walk around a park or area as opposed to staying in one spot during a mini session. 

Speaking of weather, don't let overcast/drizzly days scare you! They can produce beautiful images. When scheduling a time early morning and sunset are the prime times, that's the "golden hour". 

I am always open and eager to hear any ideas you have (yes, please show me/explain to me that image you saw on pinterest that you are just dying to try!) Help me see the vision in your head, on my pinterest account I have a few boards with ideas of what to wear for family sessions


 I suggest to bring snacks for the littles, something small and not messy (think cereal or smarties!) If the weather is cooler, bring a blanket to cover you or your littles, between shots).
I want this experience to go as painlessly as possible, because let's be honest just getting your littles to the family session itself can be the first battle!  And there's usually at least one family member who doesn't want to really be there.  Let's just relax and have some smiles, hopefully take home some memories and good feelings when you look back at your images.

It can be overwhelming when you begin the search for a wedding photographer, when I see people looking for recommendations on social media there can be upwards of 50 comments in just a mere hour!
